Today's post will be on the different types for cov-19 test kits and it will be mainly focused on the antigen and antibody kind of test kits. Enjoy !

Welcome back to pistaqiology. It hasn't been long since I last wrote something for you guys aren't it? So, today's post will be sort of following the current pandemic situation

that has been affecting most of us both physically and mentally. I really hope that all of you are in your best condition 🤙🏼 and if any of you are having a rough times, hang in there mate !







Let me introduce you to this mighty tiny creatures !

Covid-19 or scientifically it is called as the SARS-CoV-2 virus. SARS refers to severe acute respiratory syndrome and CoVs is a type of pathogens that causes respiratory outbreak 🧬 which explained much on why the symptoms of this disease resembles the common cold and flu 🤒 .


Now, how to detect that we're infected with this virus? Swab test? Urine test? Or blood test 🌡️? Ever wonder how do the test works? Come, let me tell you about these tests and how it is significant in detecting the virus.


Generally there are two ✌🏻 main categories for testing coronavirus which are diagnostic and antibody test. Diagnostic test covers the molecular and antigen testing and antibody test only comprises of the antibody testing. Figure below shows the types of testing for covid-19, how it works and the limitation for each tests.



Next, I'll be going to introduce you with some of the kits that has been commercialized and been used by the healthcare to diagnose the coronavirus infection.

So, basically these are five 🖐🏼 of the rapid test kits that are available across the globe and each of these has its distinct limitation as well as it selectivity. A simple and informative post on the sensors used for Covid 19. I would like to hear some of your thoughts regarding how can you overcome some of the limitations of the commercial kits. Looking forward.
